Privacy Policy
Last updated 13 July 2026
Geographicle is a daily geography game. This policy explains what personal data we process when you play and, optionally, create an account or support the project. We aim to collect as little as possible.
Hosting and security
Geographicle is hosted in Norway. We keep your data safe and secure and only process it to run the game. For any privacy question, email privacy@geographicle.com.
What we collect
- Account data (only if you sign up): your email address, a display name, a hashed password, and — if you enable it — two-factor authentication secrets and backup codes.
- Gameplay data (only if you sign in): your daily results — guesses, solve time, and win/streak history — used to show your stats and rank you on the leaderboard. Your display name is shown publicly when you appear on the leaderboards, the streak board, or — if you support the project — the supporter Hall of Fame.
- Payment data (only if you become a Supporter or Patron): handled by Stripe. We store your Stripe customer and subscription identifiers to manage your membership. We never see or store your card details.
- Technical data: your IP address is used transiently to rate-limit sign-in and email requests (an anti-abuse measure); it is not stored with your gameplay history.
We do not use advertising or third-party analytics/tracking cookies. The only cookie we set is the session cookie that keeps you signed in.
Legal basis
- Contract — running your account and syncing your game progress.
- Legitimate interest — securing the service and preventing abuse.
- Consent / contract — processing payments when you choose to support us.
Processors we share data with
- Stripe — payment processing for memberships.
- Resend — sending sign-in and password-reset emails.
- Our hosting provider — running the application and database.
We do not sell your data or share it for advertising.
Retention
Account and gameplay data are kept while your account exists. Ask us to delete your account and we will remove your personal data, except records we must keep for legal or accounting reasons (for example, payment records Stripe retains).
Your rights
If you are in the EU/EEA you have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your data, to object to or restrict processing, and to complain to your data protection authority. You can export or permanently delete your account and data yourself at any time from your profile (open your profile, then “Your data”). For anything else, email privacy@geographicle.com.
Changes
We will update this page if our practices change and revise the date above.
